Luxaire heat pump sales and servicing nz
I have 2 older Luxaire heatpumps which only had limited use. I now like to reinstall them .One in Tauranga and one in Magere Bridge.an you recommend an installer in these locations. I think the units use R22/R407c refrigerant.I understand there may be an issue refarding availability of this type of gas as it is not used so much nowadays? Would this be a poblem? Is it still available or can you use another refrigerant?

Ben, the unit requires the use of the refrigerant labeled on the manufactures label, no using different refrigerants. R-22 is still readily available, just a bit more pricey than it used to be. The units are not 407. Maybe 410a or 22. If you can find a professional licensed tech that will install used equipment you should be fine, maybe, but do know that
There well be no warranty what so ever, so if it doesn't work out, don't expect them to rush back and service used equipment, okay?

Mag, please start your own thread. You have piggybacked onto another persons thread. If you start your own, there is a much better chance of more experts seeing it and therefore a much better chance for you to get answers.

    Take care all.

Your choice of refrigerant is going to depend upon what oil is in the compressor. If it is mineral oil, you would have to use either R-22 or R-438A (MO99). R-407C is not compatible with mineral oil, if I remember correctly.
