    Changing my daughter's name
I was awarded sole custody of my daughter in 2007. We have recently relocated to Tennessee and the systems there go by the BC. My daughter is very unhappy. Since the day she moved in with me, she has used my last name. Now she is having to go by her mothers name. She was born in SC, I am not on the BC. We have no idea where her birth mother is or how to contact her. What can I do? This is really stressing my daughter.

You have to go to court and request a legal name change. You will have to show that you have tried to contact the mother for permission for this change.
