My doctor wants me to get the coil? Because I'm to forgetful in my pill! Can someone please tell me are there many side effects? She told me I won't have a period for 4 years but I might bleed a lot for the first year! She said no weight gain! But I just would like to hear from people who have had it? Thanks

The copper coil is the same as the mirena. It's an IUD and is not a form of sterilization. The only difference is that the mirena contains hormones and the coil doesn't.

J9, are there two types of coils? I'm holding the Pharm printout in my hands and it says permanent sterilization (plus the website).
