    How do I clear icons off my desktop without erasing them from my computer?

    Not sure I really understand what you mean, but I'll have a go.
    Now removing the desktop icon from your machine will NOT remove the associated program from your computer.

    If it's simply a case of tidying your desktop then just create a new folder and put the icons you don't need into it.
