    Georgia State Taxes
In 2007, I was working in FL but living in GA. My tax preparer told me to stop having state taxes taken out of my check immediately so I did. Last year I got a letter stating I owe the IRS now for these state taxes. When I spoke to my preparer about it, he said not to worry because the law didn't change until 2008. Does anyone know what law he was referring to?

    Signed,
Desperate to not have the IRS take my Federal taxes to pay this debt!

Your tax preparer is misleading you.

For the state where you live (Georgia), you are liable to pay taxes on ALL income, even if you earn it in another state.

The state of Georgia petitioned the IRS to collect the back taxes from your federal refund, a process you cannot stop because you DO owe the tax.
