Is it normal for severe pain after a week of 4 pemolar teeth pulled?
Hi, Im 14 and I had 4 teeth pulled for braces. The teeth behind your k9 teeth, 2 on top and 2 on bottom. The first day home was horrible, and it got worse. I am pretty much in pain constantly. When I take my pain medicine I feel good.. but it lasts about an hour, and I have to wait 6 hours to take another pill because you can't take one every hour (I wish) :(

After that hour of pain medicine, ever since the first day I have been suffering so bad. I just want it to stop! It started with a pounding pain, after a few days the pain was by my eyes and ears, and now I feel like its deeper in my bone.. The pain is mostly on the bottom two sockets. All of the stiches are still in too. Every day, I brush my teeth 2 times, and saltwater rinse 2 times after I eat.

I barely eat because it hurts so bad. I can't talk because it is so painful and I have school in 3 days! Also, I barely sleep. Im lucky to get 4 hours in the day. Im not strong enough to handle this :( Is this normal? I feel alone on this.

I went to the doctor two days ago and he said I'm fine and it will get better tomorrow but it hasn't. Now I have no more Vicoden and am going to use tylenol.

When am I going to not have to rely on pain medicine?

Any advice for me or your story means A lot to me :)

Everyone's pain level they can accept is different, most likely what seems like killing pain to you, would not be to some other people.

Short of going back and seeing the doctor, but getting four teeth hurts, and some people still have some pain after a week. Time makes it better

Yes, it's normal enough, and your dentist isn't being fair. One week of Vicodin isn't enough for 4 teeth, and you should be able to take them every 4 hours. I went through this too, and it depends on the dentist - some will give you a week of 500mg and some will give you up to 21 days of 750s or start with those and taper off with 500s. Have a parent TELL him how painful it is, and insist, and don't get off the phone until you get more. He is worried that a teen will sell them in school.
