No, requires different wiring. Some compressors are dual voltage 120 or 240. Look at your motor plate.
PS -voltage is now 120/240 not 110/220.

I'm going to see if this thread can be moved to the Electrical - Lighting forum. You have an electrical failure, not an appliance failure.

    Some quick questions:

Was this compressor working before and suddenly quit?

    Is this a new installation?

Does the plug from the compressor's cord match the recptacle at the outlet?

Have you verified that the breaker has not been inadvertly switched off?

Have you taken a voltage reading at the receptacle to see if it at 0 (zero) volts? If you don't have a multimeter, you can get one at most harware stores.

220v outlet - shared between hot tub and wall oven? [ 1 Answers ]

We've recently purchased a hot tub that requires 220v and our panel doesn't have room to add the GFIC breaker. We have a seldom used wall oven that is 220v and I'm wondering if it is possible to share this breaker rather than upgrading to a 200amp service. Thanks.

Proper 220V wall outlet for range/oven [ 4 Answers ]

I moved a 200V outlet from one side of the kitchen to another. I bought a new range/oven. When I plug in the range/oven, the rang elements work properly, but the oven will not turn on or the clock runs. Does it look like I rewire the 220V outlet incorrectly? If I get a voltmeter, what reading I...
