First, can you please type is proper english? It is kind of tough for us old fogies who don't understand text language. Thanks.

Now, while it is unusual for a woman to have her periods while pregnant, it is possible.

If you are having pregnancy symptoms, and this happened to you before, you should make an appointment with your OB/GYN to be sure you are or are not pregnant.

Pregnant women don't have periods, some can get pregnancy bleeding, but not periods. A test is only valid for a short period (it will say how long on the box) after this time you can get a false positive, it is called an evaporation line, and is not a true positive. I would ask your dr about having a blood test.

Squiffy, I will have to respectfully disagree with you in that, while rare, some women do continue to have what is like a period (called a pseudoperiod, or false period) in the beginning months of pregnancy.

Its not a period, When you have a period you shed the lining of the womb, if you shed the womb lining while pregnant you would miscarry the baby as that is where the embyo implants. Pregnancy bleeding is not a period and should never be regarded as normal until checked out by a dr.I never said women don't bleed while pregnant, I said they don't get periods.

You are right in that respect, I will agree. However, the normal lay person, or woman does not understand it as indepth as that, so they continue to have a "period" When it is actually a pseudoperiod.

So, many women go around saying that they are having a period when they are pregnant. And yes, menstruation is the losing of the lining of the uterus when the egg is not fertalized, therefore, does not implant.

But we really don't need to confuse the issue with people who do not know about menstruation in depth. If they understand that it is not unusual to bleed during the first few months of pregnancy, who are we to tell them that it is not a period, if they understand that it is normal (only for some, and rarely even) if that is just what they are used to calling it.

Many of the OB/GYNs I have worked with will even call it this so that they don't have to go through a whole reproduction lecture that they learned in med school. Not to be rude, but really if we don't call it a period, and it still happens the same time every month for the first few months, what do we call it that EVERYONE will understand?

So, bleeding, while uncommon, can and does happen to some women during the first few months of pregnancy.

We should also not be going around telling women that is it OK and normal to bleed during pregnancy. Leading them to believe it is a period is a very bad idea as periods are normal, and bleeding during pregnancy isn't! Telling women they can have periods during pregnancy could prevent them from getting very much needed medical help if things start to go wrong. We instead should be encouraging any woman who is bleeding while they are, or think they may be, pregnant to see a dr.

Again, you are right. If you read my answer, I said it is RARE and UNCOMMON that women bleed during the first few months of pregnancy. But all bleeding MUST be checked by the care provider to determine if it is okay for that particular woman. Especially bright red bleeding.

Well you guys are helping a lot but that's what I was confuse about because the line on the test took so long to appear and then when I really notice the expiry date on the box it was up in April 2007 so I said that may have been a reason to but still not sure. Well if its not call a period or what ever it is called it happened to me last year and I was actually pregnant.

I would go see your dr for a blood test, especially if you have a history of pregnancy bleeding. It could have been an evaporaiton line, but often they don't come up for arounf half an hour, but a true positive should really have come up during the first 3 minutes. A blood test would show up almost for sure if you are or not.

Smallz, it is not yet April 2007, so the test is not yet considered expired, however it may still be old.

Just remember that whenever you have unusual bleeding, that calls for a professional examination.

Whenever you have questions about your health you should make an appointment with your doctor to discuss it.
