    Helping my fiancé cope
Hi all! My fiancé recently was discharged from the army due to combat related injuries. It has been almost a year since he came home. All of his army experience was before me, so, for the most part it's a mystery to me. This is fine. I don't want him to divulge things he doesn't feel comfortable discussing and I can never understand the losses he has experienced. However, occasionally he tears up at certain things and he does have PTSD and sometimes I feel worthless and like there's nothing I can do to help him. I just try to be supportive and cry with him because it kills me to see him hurt. I don't ask questions, but let him talk when he feels like it. He refuses to go to his therapy appointments at the VA because the doctor tries to make him relive his painful experiences to get through them. I feel that he needs to talk to someone but I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Call the VA and see if there are support groups for women like you, the wives, girlfriends, etc. I am sure there are people you can speak to there for help in caring for your fiancé.
