    Unfinished Install/Hvac
Here I have a situation where owner of air conditioning business didn't complete the installation. The work was shabby with lots of foil tape. The louver or fins on the back of the unit (carrier infinity 48Xl-N model) are partially blocked with foil taped across it along the top lip of the trunk shield which poorly fits.I believe if left in place like that,it will affect performance of the system? Second, the trunk puddles water top of it,not sloped so it can drain. There is about half inch 5/8 pool of water.I don't know much about air conditioners but pretty sure you don't block the louvers? Never have I seen a shoddy ac/heat install like this.Unfortunately,
He's been paid and probably won't return to run the unit for the 1st time startup.I'll also face warranty issue if I hire someone else to finish as the unit was recently registered with the installer's name on carrier's website? Can I do this myself or will that likely void warranty? How does one light pilot on the infinity & set t'stat?
I purchased this system online maybe that's why I got s****y installation.

First I recommend you have a professional look over the system before it is run since you want to make sure it is safe and works properly. The Infinity systems are bit more complex than your standard HVAC units this is also why I recommend a Carrier professional and be prepared to pay them for there services. Your warranty is already void since you bought the unit on line. Carrier knows who sold the unit and now you have said the installer who did not know what he was doing registered it in his company's name. LOL I do not think so since no one one with a Carrier dealership would do such a bad job of install so I bet he lied to you on that one. Carrier and most other manufactures will not honor a warranty on any equipment bought on line. It has to be bought and installed by a Carrier dealer to get the benefit of a warranty by the factory unless you can find a legitimate carrier dealer to install your on line unit and at least around here that does just not happen. You can look around on Carriers web site and see in the warranty/disclaimer that my statement here to you is correct. I have been telling people for years about just this same thing and no one wants to believe until it is to late. I am sorry you are having this type of problem but hopefully it will be a lesson for you and anyone else who reads this.

My warranty is not null the company I purchased the unit from online covers warranty by manufacturer,(in house)only drawback is a filing fee for every warranty claim and on a 10 yr coverage you get 5.I registered my unit and listed the installers name which is requested by carrier registration you misunderstood.I just wanted to see if I should pursue small claims court or something on this guy since he got my money.Think I will pay him a personal visit to his business funny how I'm told he's working out of town won't return my calls either.I trusted
He would come back and finish,I should have handed him 50% and paid the remainder upon
Completion.Sometimes you feel like a nut somedays you don't,but really feeling like an idiot right now.
