    Disposal backed up
Last night my dishwasher backed up and spilled water all over the kitchen floor. I checked out the disposal and it rotates, but is clogged. I reached down the disposal with my hand, but couldn't find anything.

    Any suggestions?

I had this happen a couple times in the past, too. In my case, when I pulled out the dishwasher, the hose connecting it to the drain pipe was clogged. Sometimes all that grunt that comes off the dishes gets through the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher and then clogs up the dishwasher drainage hose.
If you look at your disposal, the drainage hose from the dishwasher should come into it. Take off the cinch clamp and check this hose for plugs.

Backed up drains [ 1 Answers ]

We just bought our house and the home inspector passed the house, but as soon as we moved in, the dishwasher and the washing machine started to back up into the shower.
