    X - intercepts
    how do you do this problem?

    what are the x-intercepts for y=x(squared) - 25?

    to find the x-intercepts, set the equation equal to zero. (sub 0 in for y, then solve for x)

    y=x^2 - 25

    X-Intercept means that the point that lies on X-Axis and on X-axis Y=0 for all values of X so to find X-Intercept, just replace Y by Zero in your equation

    0=x^2-25
    0={(x)^2}-(5^2)
    we know that x^2 - y^2 = (X+y) (x-y)

    so,
    0=(x+5) (x-5)
    equating both to zero
    x+5=0 , x-5=0
    x=-5 , x=5

    so your X-intercepts are

    (-5,0) and (5,0)

    hope it answers the question
