Hi I will try to give as much information as I can and be as clear as possible I'm definitely a novice when it comes to this stuff and having just moved to the US from overseas (lived in the world of 240v and AC or was that DC ;) ) I'm struggling a little. Anyway the question. I have started setting up my workshop in the basement of my house. I plan to have a few power tools down there that will require some juice. I will only ever really use a combination of 2 tools at once. I have a 15amp Dust collector and 15amp Table Saw. Switched on at once. I will use other tools but these I suspect will require the most juice so this is I guess my peak usage scenario. The circuit has four double strip lights on also. The circuit does go into one of the other rooms but this is seldom used.

I want to be sure if running these tools and possibly a fan or something in the summer is safe and I will not overload the circuit or if I should get an electrician to put in a dedicated circuit.

I would definitely run my tool circuit separate from my lighting. 15a for the lights would be fine but your tools are going to pull a lot of juice, especially on starting up. You don't want to lose lights and tools if the breaker pops.
