Can I press charges on a person who lived with me and stole items?
I live in Ohio and allowed a friend to live with me for 3 days while he looked for a job. It turned into a month. And ended badly. He stole several things from me and my son. Im not sure if he is back in fl or not. I called the police station to get a copy of the report and I wanted to know what I could do. She read to me that the officer had written on the report that I did not want to press charges, and so this would be a civil matter.

Can you please help me with this.

How long ago was this, you can go and see the DA in person and request charges but most likely since you said no at first, they will not do anything,

So you should sue them in civil court and get a jjudgement for the money against them
