    Can they press charges?
My husband owes money to his shop he's not making any money there so he s going to change jobs and we were told that they were going to press charges if he left... He's going to pay them back after he leaves but he's making zero money and he has a family there is no record of the money being loaned to my knowledge

Did they loan him the money or did he steal the money, that is the difference. As soon as someone said, "there is no record" it does sound, even if it is not the case there is some desire not to pay.

Also what do you mean, "he is making 0 money" what does he do for a living, is he not a hourly employee ? Does he work on commission? If work is so bad he has no business, obviously the company he works for is not making money either.

From how you said, if he merely took a loan, they can sue him, if they claim he stole the money, they can call the police.

I am sorry, but of the tattoo artists I know can make a living and I am told that summer at least around Atlanta GA is the best time for them. Is there a reason he does not get any clients, does the owner take most of the walk in business or how do they chose who gets walk in customers.

But no they will be able to sue for the money ( unless they lie of course)

Ya summer is the best but the shoo he's at just sucks he's been doing it 18years and the shop is just in a really made location it's nothing what he's used to and it was the 1st place that we found that needed someone when he got here but now he's moving to a much better shop... The walkins go in rotation of who's there but that shop isn't even getting walkins

So customers paid him cash. He was supposed to pay half of that to the company, and he didn't. Is that what you are saying? What record was kept of these transactions?

I have to assume that if customers paid by check or credit card, it went directly to the company, and those amounts are not an issue. Is that right?

If they sent him to a convention and he represented the company, I am not sure they can even really ask for the money back, If he went to the convention for his pleasure or person desire, he will just owe them the money,

When he gets ready to leave, he can ask for a payment plan to pay it back. If they won't agree, they will sue in court ( most likely small claims) and if he loses, he will owe them the money.

    This is not criminal.

Get him into a busy better shop so he can support the family.

We get a few tattoo questions in the body art area, he is welcome to answer some as they come in.
