Custody
My wife and I are currently getting divorced and have a 2 year old. We have been doing split custody for the past 4 months but she feels its too much shuffling for him. We basically swap every other day and swap weekends. Recently she told me that she thinks its to hard on him and wants me to forfeit a day each week. He is my life and I feel its only fair for him to spend equal time with both. He seems to favor me a little and even the caretaker has told me he gets a little more excited to see me then her and gets more upset when I drop him off. I know its not a compitition but I fear she's trying to block that and get more child support by cutting my time back. I live on the house he is familiar with and I have always been there. I take him to most of his Dr. Appt. I use to take and pick him up primarily from his caretaker when we were together and I have always been there for him. I fear that since she's the mother the court will favor her. My lawyer says it won't happen. I do live in the most liberal county in the state and she says the days of them favoring the mother are long gone. Losing him is my worst fear and will crush me if it happens. Do I stand a fighting chance?

The mother is right. Shuffling a 2 yr old on a daily basis is not good for him. But, instead of giving up a day counter offer an alternate week schedule. You each have him from Saturday to Friday. Then alternate.

Thank you. My lawyer says he's to young to split weeks. Maybe I should fight and ask her to lose a day or two.

Your lawyer says that? Is your lawyer a child development expert? Get your opinions from his pediatrician or a child psychologist I firmly disagree with your attorney.

Good answer. I've been thinking about changing lawyers and you may have just convinced me to do so.

If your lawyer said ,that, change lawyers, you want one that will fight for what you want.
But>>>> every other day is too much
It should be every other week, one week with you, one week with her,

thanks Chuck. That seems to be the popular answer. I'll do whatever it takes to keep him in my life on a regular basis. Tho going a week without him would be tuff.
