Can a father sign over his rights if the mother is not married to the other man?
I just found out I have a daughter throuh a paternity test, the child is 6 months and I've only seen her once. The mother said that there were several other fathers so I never believed the child was mine therefore I never met her until a few weeks ago. Since finding out I have tried to be in the little girls life and get custody because the mother is not fit. The courts though have just decided that I am the father but I get no rights, I do not get to visit with the child or have much contact and I have to pay 51 a week which is more than I make right now. I am enaged with a son and have moved from Indiana to Ohio. I moved long before the little girl was born and have been with my fiancé for over a year. I can't pay that much and I can't travel hours away to see her when her mother has the power to change her mind. I want to sign over my rights and let the mothers boyfriend adopt the little girl. He's been with her since before birth and has done most things for her. Is it possible to sign over rights and let him adopt if they aren't married?

Nope. They need to be married, and he has to WANT to adopt the child.

You were part of the creation of the child, you now need to help take care of the child via child support.

Most states base child support on income--how is it that you were charged to pay more than you actually make?

And why did you not get any visits, you have to be almost a mass murder or a child rapist not to get some visits. Did you even apply ( make a motion with the court) for visits
