My boyfriend and his best friend planned a week long camping trip this month (he's currently on it now). The day before he left, I asked him to keep in touch with me, to let me know how things are going. With that one question, I got a very stern answer. He said, 'No. I'm not going to check in with you.' to which I replied, 'Well, I don't think it's a big deal to let me know you got there safely and to let me know when you get home' (which is this Friday night). He then said, "No. I'm not going to do that. That defeats the whole purpose of the trip." I dropped the topic at that point. He left this past Sunday morning, (July 15th), and I haven't heard from him once. I refuse to text him, and I'm starting to think that this is a direct reflection on how he feels about me. Earlier this year (2012), he had to travel a few times for his work, and each time he did, he never kept in touch with me. Finally, after the second or third trip, I talked to him about it. I told him that I don't expect or want him to have to feel like he needs to talk to me every day, several times a day, but that it would be nice to know that he arrived someplace safely, and returned home safely. He said that he would from now on. The following trip he took, he was great. In fact, he kept in touch with me constantly. Now it's back to his old ways. What do I do? We've been together for almost two years. He knows that I don't like when he 'disconnects' like this, but yet, he didn't (or doesn't) seem to care.
