Walking backing up in dishwasher when water turned off?
I had an issue the week I went on vacation. I have a town-home built in 82 that still has Poly-B pipes instead of PEX/PVC. Before I left on vacation I turned my water off. I had my neighbor come over and water my plants and feed my cat. He came over one time and turned the water on to water the plants and clean stuff off in the sink. He then turned the water back off. He came back over three days later to see the entire kitchen and living room was flooded. He didn't know where the water was coming from either. I came home to find out that water was seeping from my dishwasher, I opened the door and the bottom of the dishwasher was filled completely with water. I had a plumber come out and troubleshoot and he couldn't figure it out. He was dumbfounded. Any ideas? On another note nights later, my kids decided to drain their entire bubble bath bottle in the tub. When they got out I drained the water. I came downstairs and there were bubbles coming up in my bathroom sink and in my toilet as well as the bottom around my toilet, but not in my tub drain? Any ideas on this?

Had the neighbor turned the water off at the house stop you wouldn't have flooded out.
Sounds like you have a faulty inlet valve in the dishwasher. This couldn't have flooded unless the water had been left on at your house. In all fairness to your neighbor you could also have a bad house shut off valve but the water had to be on for you to flood out.

Sounds like the liquid was still generating bubbles after the kids drained it into the system. If you've had no further backups I think you'll be just fine. Good luck and take the bubble bath away from the kids. Cheers, Tom

I do not have an air gap. My hose has an upper loop and runs into the drain after the trap. The sink drains fine but when I run the dishwasher, water backs up into the sink. I tried drain cleaner and run an auger into the lines and I don't see signs of a clog. I ran the auger 25' into the line...
