How to remove water from inside ducted heating vent

My grandchildren left their bathroom tap running which flooded said floor and nearby hall carpet. Water dripped?/poured? Down the ducted heating vent in the bathroom. What should be done re this? Turn the heater on to dry it out? Or is there electrical wiring which would make this dangerous?
Ducted heating does not stay alight

When we light our ducted heating which is the white rodgers we then turn it on to 30 degrees but when we turn it off the pilot light goes back out. So the next time we turn it on it does not work we have tried this 3 times.

Unit about 10years old. The brand of the ducted heating in the roof is braemar the model number is sch100r. The switch inside our house that we set the temperature on it is called white rodgers.
