Armstrong ultra sx 80 blower motor not running and smells
Got home and my furnace blower was humming, but not running. Pulled the front panel and there is an electrical smell like the magic smoke escaped. Switched the AC off and turned just the fan on with no success. I could hear a click of the relay, but the motor was not turning.
Is this actually the motor that is at fault or possibly a capacitor?

I believe the motor is toast. Time for a new motor and a new capacitor that matches the motors requirement. Never reuse a capacitor from the old motor. Penny wise and pound foolish.

How do I remove the blower/motor assembly to an Ultra 97 gas fired furnace? [ 1 Answers ]

The furnace is approximately 20 years old and is a Model Ultra 97. I can not locate what is holding the blower and motor assembly in place. It looks like the assembly should simply slid out from the side, on two tracks. It won't budge, but I see nothing that seems to be holing it in place?

Blower motor not running [ 1 Answers ]

Okay, so the heating/ac guy cannot get out for a few days, so I started diagnosing things myself. My blower (rheem residential gas/ac unit, less than 6 years old) was slowing down and finally quit. I had the motor checked out and it was dead at this point (very dirty, had been running on very...

Blower motor not running [ 7 Answers ]

Hi, I have a rheem furnace in which the blower motor buzzes but does not run. I replaced the motor, and the capacitor(15/370 MFD) but the same problem persists. The motor that was initially on the system (51-18716-01) is no longer sold so I bought the one that replaces it ( 51-23017-42). The...
