    Changing my child's surname now I'm married
    I've recently got married and was wondering if I need my ex partners permission to double barrell my child's surname?

    I have no idea what double barrel means. It varies somewhat by location but in general, no, not without the birth parent's permission.

    EDIT: Do you mean hyphenate?

    You may not legally change the child's name without the other parents permission or a court order.
