Boyfriend's ex wants to file a restraining order against me
Hi there. My boyfriend's ex is threatening to file a restraining order against me because her 6 year old said that I threw the 2 year old on the bed because I was tired of her crying. The real story is that the baby was crying over a toy and I told her that it was okay, there was no need to cry. She's 2, so she continued. I asked several times for her to stop and she didn't so, I said either stop crying or it's time to take a nap. She of course kept crying. So I picked her up and put her on her bed and said time for a nap. She kept saying no want to go to bed. I replied, if you don't want to take a nap right now, stop crying. So she thought about it, and stopped. I walked over, picked her up and said see you are okay. That was it. The mother, however, believes the 6 yr old's side of this story and is now threatening a restraining order against me, but I live with my boyfriend, the father which would affect him getting them. Can she file one and get it when I've done nothing wrong?

Yes she can file one for any reason, she can make up stuff in her head an file against you . Best advice is for you to stay away form her she is not an never will be your friend. She may protend to be only so she can try to break both of you up or anything that is to her advantage. She is jealous or an wants the kids to herself an will do anything she can to get it her way. When it comes to ex's stay as far away, any contact must be short an sweet if you must have contact. Stay out if her house also. Sorry that people are like this, but I am 57 an have seen a lot of what people will pull to get things their way. :(

    What is your first language?

I work in the legal system - I'd let the girlfriend threaten all she wants. If nothing inappropriate has happened the Court will see right through this ploy.

If you share parenting you need to have a relationship with this woman - just protect yourself. Have witnesses, keep it short and sweet.
