    Hi Jaws

The easiest thing to replace is the thermcouple. If the heater has a CLOSED COMBUSTION CHAMBER then you'll need to replace the thermocouple and the door gasket, OK?

Here, call a local plumbing supply store and see who carries STATE water heaters... they will have a kit and can explain the swap out process for you.

    Good luck!

Jaws, does the pilot not light at all, or does it light but not stay lit when button is released?
