    Scotts by john deere riding mowerW/Kohler command 17.5 service manual
    I have a Scotts, made by John Deere riding mower with a Kohler Command 17.5 engine and I have been having problems getting it to run smooth. I have changed the fuel, fuel filter, and air filter. Yesterday drained the fuel tank and refilled it with a higher octane gasoline and poured in some sea foam injector cleaner. It ran great for about twenty minutes and then the engine began surging and cutting out, especially when I lower the deck. Also my mower drive belt broke and I'm not sure how it is supposed to be put on. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate some feedback on the running condition as well as a belt diagram.

    Hi,
    For the fuel problem I might first check the fuel cap. For the belt see the OPE link in my sig or my Homepage and then the John Deere drive link.
