    Well pump won't turn on
I added water to my pool, for about 2 hours, everything seemed fine after I finished still had water in house, no water today, I have a switch (On/Off) switch in the pump house, as I turn the switch on/off I hear the power in the control box as if the pump is trying to turn on than the sound goes away, pump does not come on, this happened last week and I turned the sitch off and the next day started my investigation, turned the switch on and the pump started, water was brownish for a while but than cleared, thought it would do the same thing but this time pump is not turnibg on, cleaned contacts, don't feel that is problem - and suggestions?

    Thanks

Sounds like filling the pool lowered the water table.

Are you saying that you have power to the pump but it won't turn over? Or does it run but not pump? Let me know, Tom

The pump will not turn on, but when I turn the switch on/off I can hear the circuitry in the control box, almost as if the power is being applied and than stops in about 10 seconds (humming that is), and pump does not turn on, did same thing the other day but turned on, not so today.

Is this a surface or a submersible pump" By "humming" do you mean the pump's running or just humming? Does it throw the breakers? Let me know, Tom

Submersible pump well is 232 feet, what I mean is the sound at the control box, hums for a few seconds and than stops pump doesn't come on, no the breaker does not trip

Sounds like you may have some motor windings shorted out and the overload in the pump is cutting out. Can you get a electrician or a pump guy in to check before you do any more? Let me know what he finds. Good luck, Tom
