    Tile adhesive?
I'm going to install some slate tile over concrete. This is my first try at installing tile. Should I use adhesive or thin set? It will get wet occasionally. I do plan to seal the slate.

The floor is flat and smooth, but was painted years ago. What should I do to prep it?

    Thanks...

I am doing all of my tile with thinset on top of tile backer, but my father has been using adhesive on most of his projects and I haven't seen an issue with either way. No problems have been found with either way, but the adhesive is quicker and you use less grout if you use thin set. However, I am not a professional, I am just always remodeling something or another around houses. You may want to wait for a different person to answer if you want to be very sure on an answer. Good luck!

Tile adhesive will not dry [ 1 Answers ]

Have installed 12x24 inch porcelain tiles in our kitchen on top of old tiles. Used a premixed tile adhesive (which a friend used in his kitchen on top of old tile with no problem). After 5 days it has not dried fully (only dried in a few spots). Will it dry eventually or do I have to start over?
