My best friend is 15 and she is living with her sister. Her sister is always grounding her for no reason and making her babysit her four kids while she is out. She also makes my friend miss days of school jusy because she's grounded. My friend told me that she doesn't like living with her sister so can my mom adopt her? What does my mom have to do? Can her sister just sign adoption papers or is a lawyer needed?

Generally... no. Because it gets really complicated, time consuminig and expensive. And there are a lot of legal requirements that have to be met.

#1. Its going to be gawd aweful expensive for your mom.

#2. Your friends sister is her legal guardian and family. The courts side with them unless you can prove they are a danger to the life of the child. Not because the child doesn't like doing their chores.

#3. By the time this goes through the court system your friend will likely be an adult already or so close to it that it's a waste of time.
