I found this stray cat laying on a log and found out she was living under the log . When we got home I found a rescue that will take her but I noticed that her stomac was saggy and her nipples are very hard I don't see she lactating but I worried I left the kitten out there in the woods?

If she isn't lactating, there is probably no kitten. And if there were, how would you find it?

Well I thought that was the point off these questions for people to help others figure these kinds of things out that u I'm just very curious I do not want to take a mother far away from her babies

Again, I'm wondering how you'd find any kittens. If they aren't under the log, you'd have to walk around and listen for mewing. And hope you hear something.

Well I never said I looked under the log yet for the kittens I was wondering on signs first before heading that way and I made a booboo and that's why I put It in the correct category

I'd go back to that place in the woods and walk quietly around the area where you found her and listen for kitten mewing. I'm guessing you won't hear any, but we might be surprised.

If you were able to pick her up, she probably had been a housecat that belonged to someone and got dumped or ran away. Feral cats won't let you touch them.

Wait... instead of going back to the log to check for kittens, which would be the logical step, you decided to go to your computer, sign up to a site, and ask if we knew if the cat had kittens, and if so, where are they? Seriously?

You have the cat in front of you. You can see her. We can't. If she has had kittens, or if you even suspect that she has, then get your butt back to the log and check. I can't believe that you haven't already done that, that you instead went to your computer to ask if someone that can't check under the log, could tell you what's going on!

This post just boggles my mind. I would have been to the log and back around a dozen times just in the time it took you to post this thread!

Wow! I'm worried out of my mind and there no possible way I can get there at 11 o'clock at night with a 3 year old and coy dogs out right now I'm considered out of my mind for there safety and really wish I could!

No, don't go now, and don't worry. It's unlikely she's a mom. (You think she's young?) If anything she is pregnant and would have kittens in April or May. She may not have even had her first heat yet.

And please spay Bella (and the new cat). The shelters are overrun with cats and kittens. Millions are euthanized every year.

My cat is indoor and afraid of outside.. And I mean tarifyed and the can I found has a rescue adoption shelter were they will not put her down that's she'll be going to and treating her for everything and spraying

I'm sorry Jessica. I posted what I felt, and I didn't think it through.

I'm going to be honest with you, and I hope you can accept that, and my apology. I posted from a pet advocate point of view, and didn't stop to consider the time, the danger, or any of that.

So here's my honest response to your question.

There's really no way, without my seeing the cat, for me, or anyone else, to tell you if she does in fact have kittens. Also, even if she has had kittens, there's no way to tell when she had them, or where they are.

If she has had kittens, then it's unlikely that she strayed too far away from her babies. So the log you found her under is the logical place for these kittens (again, if she's had kittens) to be.

If they're newborn, then it's unlikely that they'll survive the night. Not trying to be mean, or make you feel bad, but those are the facts. If you found her earlier today, and the kittens are new and still out there, then it's not very likely that they'll still be alive tomorrow, especially with the conditions (coy dogs etc.) that you mentioned.

But, it's possible that she didn't just deliver, that the kittens are a bit older. Even if they're new born, there's still a chance that a few, or all will survive the night.

If I were in your position I'd go back to the log first thing tomorrow morning, check for kittens, check the surrounding area. If there are any kittens, and if they're alive, you'll hear them. They will make sure if it, because they'll be very hungry, cold, and missing mom.

Please check the log tomorrow. If you find nothing, don't beat yourself up about it. You saved the cat you found. That's one cat that no longer has to worry about fending for itself. If you find kittens, then I know you'll take care of them too. If you don't, it's mother nature doing what she does, and it's no fault of yours.

Cats get out. Please spay Bella. She will be healthier and live longer. Otherwise, she will be subject to UTIs and cancer.
