    How can one measure the population density of rooted aquatic plants in a deep lake
    The suggestion should be reasonable enough so that a high school student could perform it.

    How deep is this deep lake?
    I would guess scuba gear with flashlights on some foreheads and cameras on others, 2' pre-strung metal stakes and 2 pre-cut sticks to check for square across opposite corners. Maybe make two or three 3' x 3' plots. Record counts on camera.
