I removed a wall between my kitchen and living room, and in that wall was a thermostat for 3 kitchen baseboard heaters, like a dummy I forgot to take a picture or even write down the schematic on how to reinstall the thing on a new wall, so here are the specifics:

The heaters are 240v and all three total 2100 watts, the thermostat is a single pole thermostat, the electrical box has 4 wires leading into it, the "line" wire is a dual pole 20 amps.

Now here's the dilemma, I went online when I realized I had hooked these things up wrong and somehow had power coming from all lines leading into the box, so I followed the instructions online, with one exception, I could not find anywhere were there was info on hooking up 240v heaters to a single pole 240v thermostat.

I did it by the way of dual pole thermostat, only thing different was I hooked up both line wires together and "poof" I blew the breakers, so before I blow anymore breakers, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone out there can tell me just what I'm doing wrong here.

The black line connects to the line of the thermostat, the black load to the load of the thermostat, should leave two whites that splice together.

Thanks Russell - I figured it out , I actually had it right in the first place , then I started "thinkin" and that's when all hell broke loose - anyhow , I got it - I appreciate your help , I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again - Hysterlink

What I actually did was hooked all whites together , that made all lines within the box "hot" that's what through me offin the first place and the thinking part erupted , anyhoo , I then hooked up the black "line wire " to "line" on the thermostat , and hooked up the "load" side to the rest of the black wires leading to the heaters - I completely forgot how a heater operates
