How to issue a 1099 for legal expense non business?
Paid an attorney 1/3 of a severance payment I received from my employer. I paid the full tax in my w2 for the 25k I received and then I paid the attorney 8k directly.

Do I now issue the attorney a 1099-misc for the 8k? And how do I recognize this event in my form 1040?
