    Glazed Bathtub
I had my tub reglazed years ago and now it's peeling. I cannot afford to cover the tub with a liner and would like to remove all the glaze and just leave it for now. I would just like to get all the peeling off. Can you tell me what I need to do? I got a few estimates for the surround and bathtub liner and they said it would cost me $3200.00. That's crazy! Now I wondering what it would cost for a new tub. Does anyone know what the installation fee would be?

Your only accurate estimates would come from calling 3 plumbering companies for bids. Type of tub removed and type installed will greatly affect the bill as will your location. I agree that $3200 isout of line and may be more than a new tub. You start by talking about the tub and later the surround gets included, why?

Thank you for your response. Let me explain. Years ago I had a builder come out and install the wall surround around the existing tub. Because this acrylic surround has a lower shelf, I cannot have the acrylic liner installed over the existing tub. The company told me that they wouldn't be able to maneuver the liner because of the shelf. So I had the tub glazed and now it's peeling. The surround would have to be removed and replaced if I get the tub lined and the surround is in perfect condition. I can't afford to do both so someone told me that I would be better off leaving the surround and get a brand new tub. What do you think the installation would be for that. Thank you.
