My 5mth pup is peeing in the house when I go out and also during the night,he barks at the door during the day so knows he has to pee outside,what can I do.

How long is he left alone? If he is home alone for a long time, he can't help but pee in your home..

If you are able to, how about install a doggy door to your backyard to allow him to relieve himself during the day while you are gone.

If a doggy door is not an option, than I would suggest a crate. Even though I do not condone a dog being in a crate for hours upon hours at a time... crates also keep good dogs good. Dogs instinctually won't potty where they sleep. Crating him while you are gone enforces that.

If he is peeing when you are gone for a couple of minutes to an hour, then I would suspect separation anxiety. Dogs with this specific type of anxiety will act out when you leave them behind. They will pee as a form of "acting out" that you have left. Separation anxiety is not a curable disease.. its something that you learn to deal with. I would suggest to find a good trainer who specializes in separation anxiety dogs to help you with solutions if this descrbes your dog.

Also.. Others on here might disagree with me, but when I'm gone for the day, I don't let my dogs have free choice of water... especially puppies... What goes in, always comes out.. and puppies have a hard time (even at 5mo of age) to hold their bladders for long periods. Maybe witholding water while you are away will help you out also. If he isn't drinking excessive amounts of water, then he might not have to pee as much while you are gone. Of course, when you are home, give him free choice of water.. but while gone, take it away until he is older and can handle it.

And it never hurts to take your dog into the vet for any behaviors that just all of a sudden pop up. Although rare, he might have some type of urinary obstruction or infection.

When house trained dogs start to pee in the house, then the owners need to figure out what they can do in order for the dog to succeed. If you allow this to continue, you're going to have a very hard habit to break... and trust me, you won't like it once this habit of peeing while you're gone is concrete in your dogs head.

I found out there are certain breed that are hard to train. First did you adopt the dog from the pound or a privet owner? Second I would take the pup out 20 minutes after it eats and drinks, if it goes to the bathroom outside tell it good job and give a reward. I would also give it a certain time at night that you take the food and water away so there is no accidents. When leaving it alone for certain periods, I would either get it crate trained or gate off a certain area of the house such as the kitchen or where ever and put down some wee wee pads. This way the pup knows that they have a certain spot to go releave itself. I used to take my pup to work with me and gradually leave her alone for short periods like 20 -30 minutes at first and then gradually increase the time she was left alone. Other wise an outdoor kennel is great too. They get the time outside and they get used to it.
