    Can a landlord tell you who can or cannot spend the night whether you as the renter
    Are there or not?

    Check your lease. Some leases do actually restrict overnight visitors. Especially if you are not there. However, if the lease is silent on the issue the law does not deal with this. A man's home is his castle and, as long as you do nothing contrary to the terms of the lease or the law, then the landlord has no say.
