How to tell your parents you are getting married?
Both me and my fiancé are 19. He is going into the Marines and we both want to get married before he does so. What is the best way to tell your parents? They don't even know we are engaged. They got married at 19 also so I'm not quite sure on how they will take it. We want to get married on our anniversary, which is in March just a few months away. I must tell them very soon! Just trying to figure out how. No matter how they take it, it won't change my mind. It is just the fact it would be great to have their blessing. Any advice?

Don't wait you just have to do it. The longer you wait the more chance there is that they will be hurt that you couldn't share this experience with them from the start. Even if there is some uncomfortable feelings or disapproval involved you are an adult and you now make adult decisions. I say just open up and tell them together if possible. Show you are are partners from the get go and support each other! Good luck and congrats on the engagement!

Ok all you have to do is get your parents to come over to your place or room, sit them down along with your soon to be spouse and be honest and gentle about it. Let them know how in love you are and how sure of this you are, also stress to let them know that you will continue your studies (if you are in college or what ever) OK? ;) honesty is the best policy. Good luck

I have to even question if you are mature enough to get married, if you are too scared to tell them. First you have lied or hidden the fact that you are engaged. ( I would expect them to be upset you have hidden it)

You are 19, you are not 14, so why are you not acting like a grown adult that you claim to be?

Also while you are not going to like hearing this, I would strongly suggest that you wait till he is out of training to be married. This is going to be a hard and stressful time, and to be honest he is going to "change" during the training.
