Our furnace is "forced air heat" - a gas furnace that is in the garage, and the pilot light keeps going out which we do have someone coming to fix it. In the meantime, my husband has been using a "flame thrower" to light it, (that's what I call this device He's using) as it's a small canister...

I've emptied the gas lines before, and after turning the gas back on I was eventually able to re-light all my pilot lights, but this time I'm having no luck. Does anyone know a good trick for that initial time you light your pilot lights after turning on the main gas line? Thanks, -Mark
Pilot light on gas logs won't stay lit.

The pilot will light and stay on as long as the knob is in the pilot position as soon as I turn it to the on position I here a click and it goes out immediately. The flame is the appropriate blue color- not yellow to indicate it needs to be cleaned out. It is touching the thermocouple...

I have the same problem as the person who asked about getting their wall heater to light. The answer was to make sure the flame was touching the thermocouple.. . But how do you do that?
