I earn income in CA, husband earns income in TX. We live in TX. How do we file taxes?
My husband's company is relocating to TX. We will be living in TX. I will be maintaining my business in CA. How will we file our taxes? I will physically be working in CA as a hairstylist for 3-4 days/month. Should we file married separate? We are happy to be leaving all of the CA taxes behind and hope that if we have to file any taxes in CA, it will only be mine which is the smaller of the two incomes. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    1. Your income as a hairstylist is taxable in CA.
    2. Your husband will also pay CA tax if his relocation from CA is temporary. That is if he does not break all ties with CA, he will pay CA tax. Your U.S. Tax Return: Working or Living in Two or More states

Also, while only your California-based income is subject to California income tax, the tax RATE will also factoir in your husband's Texas-based income, so you will probably pay a HIGHER tax.
