    Abandonment
My daughter is turning seven in a couple days. My husband and I have been together since she was 13 months old he's the one she calls daddy and he's the one whose been finacially supporting her. Her reallu dad was in and out of her life till she was 4 he was arrested and sent to prison serving a 7 yr sentence. He pays 2.25 a month for child support except for the last two months. I live in Washington state and my husband would like to adopt her. But how do I go about it. I was told to file for child abandonment but I'm not sure.. Please help

If he is in prison, he can not visit or pay support. But long term prison can be a reason to ask for his rights to be taken away. Your first step would be to visit an attorney to review the case and start adoption proceedings.

Of course the court may ask has he written the child. And that 2 dollars a month in many places will be considered contact since he is paying what support he can.or the amount with no income he is suppose to pay.
Also they may ask if you have attempted to have the child visit him, since he obviously can not visit if he is in prison?
