    Central air conditioner is working but the heat isn't
    I have an electric air conditioner and the heater part is gas, the ac works great, but when I switch it over to heat, nothing comes out.

    Landlord said to leave it on for a while because it "seeped out", (she is a known slumlord and doesn't tell the truth, and really doesn't want to ever spend money for repairs). Anyway, I did as she said; left it running for 6 hours; and nothing came out of the vents, but when I touched the metal tubing that runs from the unit to the attic it was so hot it burned my finger.

    I was afraid that it was a possible fire hazard. At night, it got real cold here in San Antonio, and we suffered. What could be the problem with this? Does the blower have to be connected to AC and heat separately?

    Because it seems that that is the problem. Also, when I turned the AC back on after that, at first hot air came out, then cold, as if the heat was just building up in the system.

    Anyone have any ideas as to what this problem is?
