This is a dating question that I need the guys to answer...
So my boyfriend and I am engaged now, but he seems to have doubts that we will stay together for some reason. He always writes me notes saying stuff like he HOPES we will stay together. I tell him I'm not leaving, and he tells me he swears on his life that he's not leaving, but why does he say he hopes we stay together? What does this mean? Some things about guys I just don't understand. A little feedback please?

    Whit17,

You have really asked a question, which the women take time to understand or sometimes fail to comprehend all their life. To understand it fully, you need to understand the background of the male-female duplex. Initially, males strayed outside, women remaining (at) home. They, I mean, men would meet and mate with many females, while ladies were restricted to one only. This is a theory, which some believe in, and not a fact in the sense, we define a fact.

It often happens, that men like to befriend many girls, or women, as it is a status symbol among men to have many members of opposite sex, in their friendship list.

Whit, some people are afraid to give absolutes such 'always' or 'never'. In some cases it goes back to how they were raised or what has happened in their lives. For others it is a superstition. They won't give an absolute for fear that it will bring bad luck or something will happen. I had a neighbor who would always add, 'If the Lord is willing' whenever she made plans or talked about the future. It was a way of acknowledging that there are things in life we can't control.

'Hope' is also a very powerful word when you think about it. Where there is 'hope' there is always a chance.

If you are concerned about why he phrases things the way he does, ask him. It could be superstition or fear. It could be how adults he was raised around talked about the future. Only he can tell you.

    Good luck.

Like cat said, it could be how they were brought up and things they have experienced through their life to cause them to word things differently than say you do, or how you would prefer. Communication is key here, ask him.
