    Why does my computer systems appears dead at times or it locks up shortly after starting but always before the Operating System completes loading

    Sounds like something that's loading on startup is causing an issue.
    Would be an idea to disable all non-microsoft programs from startup start.
    Then turn them back on one at a time.

"lock-up" can occur while on the web or email. Control-Alt-Del will not work, nor will normal shut-down process. Must shut down the computer from the on/off button and then restart. The problem seems to have started after I installed a SpySweeper update. Any ideas?
