I currently have a lvl spanning 19' across my kitchen I would like to install a 13' lvl on the other half of the room This would mean that the post for the 19' and 13' would be at the same location Should I tie the lvls together at all or do I need to leave space in between them. Any suggestions?

So this would end up with a lvl 32' long with a post in the middle, right? How large is that post now and how wide is the current lvl?

I am looking to leave the current 19' LVL in place which is supported by 3 2x4s and a 2x4 nailed to the end. I want to butt up to the end 2x4 with the new LVL and will use 3 2x4s on each end. The opposite end of the 13' LVL will have one wall perpendicular to it at the post.

The current LVL is 11 7/8 x 3 1/2 x 19

I am afraid that only a structural engineer or architect can tell if that "post" can carry this load. Since the current 19' rests on two 2x4s then this new 13' should be OK on 3 2x4s.

I know that the support will be more than sufficient for the beam. My concern is the proximity of the two post will that effect anything and are there any extra step that I need to cover

What do the posts rest on, what's under them to hold them up?

Concrete slab with a footer under the existing wall The wall was set on the footer than the slab was poured around it.

Not knowing the size of the footer or soil I am gettingoutside my area. A structural engineer or architect would be better adice if we have any here at AMHD.
