    Lab results
Went to get my annual exam last Friday, got a pap smear since I'm 21 now it was normal two years ago, and got blood work done checking for hepatitis, hiv and vitamin d. I got a call from nurse Thursday morning stating the doctor wanted me to make an appt to talk to her. What could this possibly be? If it was something really bad would she have scheduled me a visit right away or could it have waited? I called today and asked if I could know what my results are for when I go to the visit on wed. But the nurse said the lab results were not in my chart and she just left a sticky note to meet with her. Then I called back and asked if I could speak with the dr and the nurse stated she is out of the office until wed. when I go back in to talk to her. Why would the nurse not give me a heads up.. Is this really bad news? I'm just worried if it's hiv.

The nurse is not allowed to give you a 'heads up' in a doctor's office; nor is she privy to your lab results when they come in. It is confidential information for the doctor's eyes only.

If the lab results were not in your chart, (mine come directly in from the lab, to my doctor's computer)they probably weren't back yet, so you are probably worrying about nothing, but then on the other hand, what have you been doing to be worring about hepatitus? Are you in the kind the job where you are exposed?

Im not worried about hep. just worried about hiv because I have had unprotected sex before. If it was hiv would they have got me to come in right away or could they have waited until wed to tell me in the office?

The doctor you said is out of the office until Wednesday. It could be any number of things that the doctor wants to talk with you about. You will just have to wait patiently and stay busy.
