    help with linear equations?
Jeff pulls he plug in his tub, after 40 seconds he realizes there are 13 gallons of water in the tub. After a minute of the tub draining he notice there are only 10 gallons left in the tub. I need to label the independent variable (x) and the dependent variable (y). Then write the 2 ordered pairs, and write an equation expressing the number of gallons of water left in the tub in terms of number seconds since jeff pulled the plug. Then how many gallons remaining after 20 and 50 sec then label the graph and examine the graph and see what is the why intercept and the x intercept and what do they represent. Then what is the slope and what does this represent. Is a linear model appropriate in this situation

To be honest... no, there is one main factor to consider; height of the water level above the tub-hole.

The height of the water above the whole determines the pressure at the hole and hence, the speed at which the water will flow out. So... you get my point.

But sure, for a simple linear equation problem, it can be assumed to behave linearly.
