I do nothing but lie to my girlfriend. We have been together for over a year and yet I can't seem to think about her. I have never really been in a serious realationship before her and it seems that all I can do is think about myself. How can I learn to put her first and stop being selfish? I love her and I really want this to work out but it seems that I have just pushed her farther and farther away and I need her back to where we started.

Hello Mark,. You lie constantly,you never think about your girlfriend.You always think about yourself first.By your own admission, you are selfish and you just push your girlfriend away.Then you say that you love her! This is not love,it may be your interpretation of it, but it is not the real thing.

Love is wanting to be with that person,being honest and open with each other,putting that person above all others,thinking of each other,wanting to be together all of the time,being selfless to spoil each other.

How could you possibly love your girlfriend,when you treat her in that way.
I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself,stop being so self indulgent and mend your ways... otherwise you could just be left on the shelf.

Yes and thanks. I know I'm selfish and I want to change that so I don't push her away. I do love her but its like all she puts me down all the time, so I have to lie to her for the sake of having a little dignity. We both work and go to school but yet she says I do nothing around the house and I'm lazy. But every day I'm at the house I keep it clean and on her days off she just lays around and watches t.v. all day. When I bring up the point that she does that she yells at me tells me I'm just being an *** and walks off.
