My boyfriends mom is trying to kick me/us out
I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years, and this is the second time we are living at his mothers house. We have been living here with her for almost a year and a half this time around. There was never a written agreement between us and her about rent, it was verbal that we had to pay for our food, which we are doing. Now that she is getting really tight on money, she is telling us that if we do not have money for her in 24 hours, that we need to be out by the next day. To get our things and go. We live in Maryland, what are our rights? Or if she decides to let her son/my boyfriend stay, but tells me to leave, what are my rights?

Is she saying that you would need to contribute to the cost of running the home such as part of the rent or mortgage, part or all of the electric bill, etc? It would be best to start paying something toward the actual bills the household incurs each month. And yes, she can legally evict both of you if she wants to or just you if she wants to.
Have you been saving your money while living rent free for over a year? If not, why not?

I am currently collecting unemployment, and not very much at that. We are paying our own bills (car insurance, etc.) she is aware of this and of the little bit of unemployment I am receiving while we are both looking for jobs. She wants us to stop paying our own bills and help pay her. We are also trying to take care of our 2year old, her grandson, along with the two of us. This means nothing to her

1. She can with notice change the verbal terms of your rental agreement. She can start asking for rent and other items to be paid. But will have to normally give a 30 day notice to change agreements.
2. Legally she can not just throw you out, but will have to give you legal notice to move and if you don't, evict you in court.
3. Unless her son is on the deed, she can evict just you if she wants to.
But on the other side, if she does evict you in 30 days, you will have to pay all the bills, so you need to look at your budget and decide if there is bills that don't have to get paid, so you can pay some rent.
