Workers Compensation, ("workmans" is deemed sexist term), is required by state law to respond to on the job related injuries. You will get dr's treatment, in some states regulated by the insuror, surgery when appropriate and a wage benefit. Is it good or bad? Well, they would not pay it unless they thought it would cost them more in the long run. With 30+ years in the industry, we were constantly audited by the states to make sure we were treating the injured party fairly but with an eye to cost saving practices. Claims would investigate all larger WC claims, determine what was needed and , in large injury cases, have in house panels discuss the case. The ultimate goal is to get prompt medical attention, settle the case as quickly and fairly as possible and keep the WC attorneys out of the cases.
