    1992 honda accord code 1
    Ok Im new to this and I have ran out of options. My 92 accord is throwing a code 1. I have replaced 4 o2 sensors thinking this was the problem. Im still getting the code. But let me tell you the car stalls on me 5 to 10 minutes down the road. Once it does this I pull over and crank it right up no problem. While it stalls in order to keep it from stalling I would hold the gas pedal down and I can heard poping or backfiring coming from the front of the car. This is what I've done to the car:
    Coil
    Ignitier
    Spark plugs and wires
    O2 sensor
    Cap and rotor
    Main relay
    Ecu
    Map
    Cleaned egr ports
    Timing is set correct
    I have spent time and money in this car when I got it 6 months ago it needed a lot of work. Anyway the car cranks up great idles great but take off sluggish but once going its good, but it will stall. Does anyone know anything about this could my TPS going out there is no code for it. I need direction thanks

    According to what Im seeing the code your getting is just for 1 oxygen sensor (A). But what your describing sounds much deeper then that. Have you run a compression test on it yet ? Did you check the timing according to the factory ?

    Sounds like a distributor-related problem. Be sure to reset the ECM by either pulling the Back-Up Fuse, located in the under hood fuse box, or disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 seconds. Did you apply silicone heat transfer grease to the back of the new igniter? Otherwise, it will soon fail. If the problem persists, you may need to install your new igniter in a new genuine Honda distributor housing. Most aftermarket distributors for Hondas have not worked well at AMHD.

    Incomplete combustion is likely playing havoc with the oxygen sensor and causing a code to be thrown. Focus on the igniter, distributor housing, and coil.

    Ok this what I have done @ txgreasemonkey Yes I have reset the ECM and I still get the same thing. As fasr as the distributor yes we applied the grease. The coil is external so your saying if the igniter goes bad the coil will too? @ califdadof3 I will run a compression check on it tomorrow timing is set 15 degrees BTDC.

    Is it possible that the whole distrubutor would make it act like that. Cause the car only does that when driving not standing still? Does the new distributor have to be a Honda Brand or can I get one from the parts store? What do you recommend. Thanks for the reply

    As has been said. For your ignition system its best to go with OEM parts. The after market ones just don't seem to hold up as well. When you checked and set the timing did you use the factory method for doing it?

    Let us know how that compression test came out. If you have a friend with the same car you might ask about swapping the distributor and see if it changes. Sometimes its easier to find when using known good as a source.

    As mentioned above, I only recommend genuine Honda distributor housings. The internal sensors (CKP, TDC, or CYL) may be affected. Honda distributors are high wear items, due to not using a splash lubrication system. Instead, they use a greased bearing that wears out between 50,000 to 100,000 miles, which affects clearances.
