Should I guy pick me up for a date?
I met a guy on a dating website. He was nice and we had a nice time and he kissed me goodnight and arranged for his cab to drop me at my house. Then he called and asked me out for drinks again. Normally, a guy who is interested asks me out for dinner, but I thought it was okay. However, I'm supposed to meet him for the drink. He's not picking me up. Is that lame? I feel like it's lame. I guess I'm old fashioned-I'm 38. I also thought it was a little lame that he keeps texting me instead of calling me to make plans. It's kind of annoying. Should I just take a pass?
I realize this isn't an earth shattering crisis. Just curious what the consensus was? I was raised to believe that the guy picks you up and takes you on the date.

Since times are different now, I think meeting him is the better idea. You don't know him well enough yet for him to know where you live. He could turn into a stalker for all you know.
We were indeed raised to believe that guys pick us up, but times have changed and gotten more dangerous.
I do agree with the texting though. Very impersonal.

Welcome to the new century. If you met on a website, then texting is the way to communicate. Be cautious with anything to do with strangers, because you don't know them very well. So meeting up somewhere public is okay, and make sure you have a friend know where you are going, and with whom.

It is very very common for him not to even know where you live for several dates. So yes meeting him is the correct proper way things are done now. In face if you live out of the way, other side of town, meeting would be a more common way of dating for a while until he would be visiting with you at your home.
Text, I personal hate the thing, it is a phone for gods sake. But yes, if you meet online, text and email is the correct form of communication now. Phone calls, one never knows if the other is busy so a text can be read when one is ready to do so.
Latter, after you get further into a relationship, then you talk more on the phone to chat and things.
So he is doing it perfectly according to today's rules

Until we hear his version of the story, I don't think it's fair to jump to conclusions.
Does he even own a car?
He could be texting you because he doesn't want to come on too strong. And since you've been in touch by text this whole time, he doesn't want to mess up with the status quo.
There's no way to know what's going on in his mind, but you could ask him for his version of the story.
